Getting started
This portal is where the national calls for research projects are published, where proposals are submitted, assessed and followed up until they are closed. It is used by four kinds of people: researchers, the staff of a platform who run the calls, the experts who assess the proposals, and the administrators of the portal.
The whole portal is published in Arabic, French and English. The three links at the top right of every screen change the language of everything, including your notifications and the messages you receive by email. Your choice follows your account from one device to the next.
Creating an account
- Open the sign-in page and choose Register.
- Fill in your name, your email address and a password. The password must be long enough and is checked against the lists of passwords known to have leaked; a password that is refused has to be replaced, not shortened.
- Choose the Platform you belong to. A platform is the body that runs the calls you will answer; it decides which calls you see.
- Read the privacy policy and the terms of use, then tick the consent box. The box is never pre-ticked, and the date and version of what you accepted are kept as proof (article 7 of law 18-07).
- Confirm the address by clicking the link sent to your mailbox. As long as the address is not confirmed, the portal only shows you the confirmation screen.
If you were invited to join a project, create your account with the address the invitation was sent to: this is what attaches the invitation to your new account.
Signing in
Sign-ins, sign-outs and failed attempts are recorded in the register of operations, with their date and the address they came from. After several failed attempts in a row, the sign-in form pauses for a minute.
Two-factor authentication
Two-factor authentication is offered to everyone and required of no one. You turn it on from your profile, with an authenticator application on your telephone; the portal shows you a set of recovery codes at that moment. Write them down somewhere safe: they are the only way back in if you lose the telephone. If you have access to personal data of other people — the staff of a platform, the administrators — a banner reminds you to turn it on.
Finding your way around
The portal is divided into workspaces. You only ever see the ones your account is entitled to, and you move from one to the other through the menu under your name, at the top right.
- Researcher Portal — your account: your profile, your education and employment records, the calls open to you, your projects, your invitations and, if you are an expert, the proposals you have to assess.
- Project Dashboard — one workspace per project, opened once the project exists: work packages, objectives, tasks, meetings, partners, budget and reports.
- Platform Management — reserved for the staff of a platform: the calls, their periods, their documents, the assessment forms, the proposals received and the accounts attached to the platform.
- Admin Console — reserved for the administration of the portal.
The first screen of the researcher portal is your dashboard. It shows your name, your contact details and the profile status of your account, with a button that takes you to the profile. The detailed list of what is still missing — first name, last name, degree, biography — is on the profile page itself, as a red notice above each empty field.
Keeping the profile complete is what lets the platform validate your account and what a team leader reads before accepting you; what a proposal needs in order to be submitted is settled on the proposal itself — its cost, its dates and the documents the call requires — and is described in Submitting a project.
What to read next
- Your profile — what is asked of you, and why.
- Education and employment — filling them in by hand, or importing them from ORCID.
- Submitting a project — from the call to the submitted proposal.
- Team and invitations — building the team around the proposal.
- Your rights over your data — reading, downloading, correcting or deleting what the portal holds about you.
Getting help
Every screen keeps the link to this guide at the bottom of the page and in the menu under your name. For a question about your data, write to the data protection officer; for anything else, to the support address. Both are on the contact page.
