Your profile
Your profile is what the leader of a team sees when you ask to join a project, and what the platform reads when it checks that a proposal comes from someone who can carry it. It is reached from Profile in the left-hand menu of the researcher portal, under the Profile group.
What is asked of you
Identity. First name, last name, and the highest degree you hold. These three are required: a proposal is submitted by a named person.
Contact details. Email address and telephone. The telephone is an Algerian
mobile number, in the international format +213551234567; the field refuses
anything else so that the platform can actually reach you.
Affiliation. The organisation you work for and the platform you are attached to.
Biography, skills and keywords. A few lines about your work and the terms that describe it. They are what a team leader reads before accepting a request to join, and what a platform searches when it looks for an assessor.
Date of birth and gender are optional. They are only asked for the statistics the calls are reported with, and you may leave them empty.
Do not write anything sensitive in the biography — health, opinions, union or political membership, religion. The portal has no business holding it, and article 18 of law 18-07 forbids collecting it without a specific ground.
The completeness notice
As long as a required field is empty, your account is Incomplete and the top of the Account section carries one red notice per missing field: first name, last name, degree, biography. The badge next to Profile in the menu carries the status itself. Once everything is there, the account becomes Complete and the platform can validate it.
The status is shown as: Incomplete, Complete, Validated, Rejected. Validation is done by the platform you are attached to, not by you.
Your photograph
The photograph is optional. It is never fetched from a third party: if you do not upload one, the portal draws a plain badge from your initials, on your own server. An uploaded photograph is served through a signed link that expires, never from a public address.
Importing from ORCID
If you hold an ORCID identifier you may fill part of your profile from it, but only if you ask for it. At the bottom of the profile there is a box:
I authorise the import of my public ORCID data
Nothing is fetched from orcid.org until it is ticked. Once it is, your education, your employment history and your keywords published there are copied into your profile, and the moment you gave the authorisation is stored. Unticking the box withdraws the authorisation and erases that stamp; what was already copied stays in your profile, where you can edit or delete it yourself.
Your password and two-factor authentication
The same screen holds your password and, below it, two-factor authentication. Changing the password signs your other sessions out. Turning two-factor authentication on takes an authenticator application and a moment: scan the code, type the six digits it shows, and keep the recovery codes the portal then gives you. You can turn it off again from the same place.
Deleting your account
Deleting an account is done from My data, not from the profile. What happens then, and how long anything is kept, is described in Your rights over your data.
